A sense of quiet and tranquility 静かな佇まい

The Kyoto Gosho was the Imperial Palace until 1869. Gravel is laid in the interior garden areas, and there is a sense of quiet and tranquility despite the mid-town location.

京都御所は1869（明治2）年まで皇居だったところです。苑内は玉砂利が敷かれ、町中にありながら静かな佇まいが感じられます。

Shishin-den & Seiryo-den & Kogosho & Otsune Goten 紫宸殿＆清涼殿＆小御所＆御常御殿

The Kyoto Gosho was used as the Imperial Palace until the transfer of the capital to Tokyo in 1869. Within the palace, there is the Shishin-den where successive generations of emperors acceded to the throne, the Seiryo-den, Kogosho, and the Otsune Goten.

1869（明治2）年の東京奠都まで皇居として使用されていたところです。御所内には歴代天皇が即位した紫宸殿や清涼殿、小御所、御常御殿などがあります。

Open to the general public 一般公開

The Kyoto Gosho is open to the general public for a few days in spring and in autumn. A prior application is necessary for visits outside of those times. The gardens of the Gosho, the Gai-en and Gyo-en, are open as a place of recreation and relaxation for anyone to walk in freely.

春と秋の数日間に一般公開されることがありますが、それ以外の時期は事前申込が必要となります。御所の外苑、御苑は自由に散策でき、憩いの場となっています。
